Story Of Jewellery# Take 3: The L’Incomparable Diamond Necklace
When there is a necklace so pretty that everyone who sees it, falls in love with it, you just happen to be one of the tribe.
L’Incomparable Diamond Necklace truly justifies the name that’s been given to it. A total of 637 carats of diamonds makes it worth a staggering $55 million or more. At the center of this fabulous necklace reigns the deep yellow 407.48 carat diamond which is supposed to be the largest flawless diamond ever graded.
What fascinates me is what goes behind the creation of such an exquisite piece. A focal piece is where it starts, imagination is what it takes to create the design and expertise it required to craft it.
This necklace created by Lebanese jeweller Mouawad highlights the yellow diamonds and has used high quality white diamonds to accentuate the flow of the design. The 407ct yellow step-cut diamond is attached to a rose gold chain adorned with a further 91 white diamonds weighing more than 200cts and, arranged in an asymmetrical design that recalls the leaves of a vine. It is believed that the incomparable centrepiece diamond was found by chance in a discarded pile of mining rubble by a young girl in the African Congo in the 1980s. Museums exhibited this diamond, including the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC, before it was set into this stunning Mouawad necklace. This necklace was first unveiled at the Doha Jewellery and Watch Exhibition in 2013.
There is no gemstone that can be compared to a diamond. Diamonds have been around for time immemorial and will continue to be there for years. There is simply nothing that can match the brilliance of diamonds.
Diamonds can surely set the heart racing!
